As I wrap up my term as Secretary, I want to thank the membership for giving me the opportunity to serve the Society in this role. It has been an honor to work to support ASB, get to know more of the membership, and improve operations. I see ASB as my professional home and family, and I am so grateful to get to give back and work with such amazing colleagues who are enthusiastic about science and who value our field and, more importantly, each other.
Over the last three years, we have streamlined many of our membership processes, and improved our records of the important contributions made by our members on committees, supporting the annual meeting, and on the Executive Board. I believe the Volunteer database and annual records will help us engage more of the membership in the society activities and identify those who are already contributing their valuable time and expertise. We have also joined the AIMBE Council of Societies, which will help support us in science advocacy initiatives. Our support for new executive board members now includes an onboarding document to help orient members to the responsibilities of non-profit organizations and the specific roles of the ASB board members, which will help maintain continuity from board to board. As we move some of the society management tasks to Podium, I know this support for Society continuity, institutional memory, and the membership will continue to grow. I look forward to supporting the incoming Secretary as we transition the member database to its new home with Podium so that the features and society records we have developed over the last three years are maintained, and to ensure a smooth transition for the members.
Please feel free to reach out if I can assist you in anyway. I look forward to seeing you at the Annual Meeting, this year virtually and for years to come!
