Fifty years after the very first ASB meeting in 1977, Iowa City offers a meaningful return to where it all began. Home to the University of Iowa, the city blends world-class research and innovation with a lively downtown filled with local restaurants, bookstores, and arts venues. As a designated UNESCO City of Literature, it provides an inspiring and welcoming setting for collaboration, discovery, and celebration.
Iowa City is also known for its accessibility to nature and outdoor activities. Delegates can enjoy scenic walking and biking trails, explore nearby parks, or take in views along the Iowa River. With its friendly atmosphere and compact, walkable core, everything you need is just steps away.

Meeting Venue
ASB 2027 will be held at the Hyatt Regency Coralville Hotel & Conference Center, a modern conference facility overlooking the Iowa River. Conveniently located in Coralville, just minutes to downtown Iowa City, the venue offers flexible meeting space, contemporary amenities, and easy access to shopping, dining, and entertainment at the nearby Iowa River Landing district. With scenic surroundings and state-of-the-art facilities, it provides an ideal environment for both scientific exchange and networking.

The primary hotel block for ASB 2027 will be at the Hyatt Regency Coralville Hotel & Conference Center, offering convenient on-site accommodations for attendees. Additional nearby hotels will also be available to suit a range of preferences and budgets. Travel Information
Getting to Iowa City, Iowa
You’ll love how easy it is to travel to Iowa City! Iowa City is centrally located in the Midwest, making it easily accessible by air and road to a large number of ASB attendees.

By Air
The closest airport is Eastern Iowa Airport (CID), located approximately 25 minutes from Coralville/Iowa City. The airport offers convenient connections through major U.S. hubs on multiple carriers with direct flights from Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Washington, DC, and more. Ground transportation options from the airport include rental cars, taxis, and ride-sharing services such as Uber and Lyft.
Additional access is available via Quad Cities International Airport (MLI), about 1.5 hours away.

Access from Eastern Iowa Airport to Iowa City
Car rentals, shuttle bus service, cabs and ride sharing options are available for transportation from the airport to the downtown core and surrounding areas.
Cabs – can be hired outside the arrivals area of the airport
Lyft and Uber – download the apps and follow the instructions on where to meet the driver.

Iowa City is located just off Interstate 80 in eastern Iowa. It is an easy drive from several major Midwestern cities:

Getting around Iowa City
The Coralville and Iowa City area is easy to navigate, with many amenities within walking distance of the conference venue. Complimentary and low-cost public transit is available through Iowa City Transit and Coralville Transit, offering routes throughout the region.
Ride-sharing services such as Uber and Lyft are readily available, along with taxis and car rentals. For those who prefer an active option, the area features extensive bike paths and pedestrian-friendly routes connecting Coralville to downtown Iowa City.
Passports & Visas
While visas are not currently required some nationalities, visitors are required to have a valid passport. Information on nationalities requiring a visa may be obtained from the US Department of State website (https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/visit/visitor.html) . The ASB Secretariat and Podium Conference Specialists will provide assistance in obtaining visas in the form of support letters once registration is confirmed and fully paid for.
