ASB Receives $500,000 Donation from the De Luca Foundation to Expand Access and Opportunity in Biomechanics
The American Society of Biomechanics (ASB) is thrilled to announce a generous $500,000 donation from the De Luca Foundation in support of ASB’s ongoing efforts to broaden participation in biomechanics.
This transformative gift will fund summer research opportunities for students from under-resourced institutions, enabling them to gain valuable biomechanics research experience at leading flagship institutions across the country. The De Luca B-SURE (Biomechanics Summer Undergraduate Research Experience) Grants aim to cultivate the next generation of biomechanics leaders by providing students with mentorship, hands-on training, and exposure to academic and professional pathways in the field.
In addition, the donation will support need-based travel grants to increase participation at ASB’s Annual Meetings, helping both U.S. and international attendees overcome financial barriers to attend and engage with the broader biomechanics community.
This landmark donation represents a significant milestone in ASB’s efforts to implement the goals outlined in our Strategic Plan, particularly in expanding access to biomechanics education and research. With the support of the De Luca Foundation, the ASB Board and Development Committee are making meaningful progress in funding initiatives that will shape a more inclusive and dynamic future for the field.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the De Luca Foundation for their continued partnership and commitment to advancing biomechanics through impactful, community-driven programs.
