ASB has greatly impacted my career trajectory and professional development as a biomechanist. It is an honor to serve as the Chair of the Education Committee.

Regional ASB Meetings

Shortly after the 2025 ASB annual meeting ended, the call for Regional Meeting Awards was announced. On behalf of the Education Committee, I am excited to announce that six groups were selected for Regional Meeting Awards! These meetings will be held between March and September 2026. Please visit the Regional Meeting page on the ASB website for details about these meetings. I hope that you have the opportunity to attend a regional meeting this year, especially since most of the meetings will occur before the World Congress of Biomechanics (WCB). Regional meetings provide great opportunities to practice your research presentations prior to presenting at a larger meeting like the annual ASB meeting or WCB.

Graduate Student Research Grants

The next focus for the Education Committee is selecting recipients for the Graduate Student Research Grants (formerly called Grant-In-Aid). These awards help defray expenses associated with conducting research (e.g., small equipment items, materials and supplies, and participant compensation). We anticipate awarding 3 – 5 grants of $2,000. In addition, each awardee will receive an annual meeting registration waiver. Thank you to everyone who applied for a Graduate Student Research Grant. Applications are being reviewed and more details will be provided in the coming weeks.

We are also working on activities associated with the ASB Strategic Plan. A busy year is in store for the Education Committee! If you want to contribute to the Education Committee activities or have ideas that you would like to share, please reach out to me at asbeducation@asbweb.org. I look forward to seeing you in Vancouver this July.
