With 2026 just beginning, preparations for the World Congress of Biomechanics 2026 (#WCB2026) are in full swing!

In Vancouver, Canada, ASB members will experience the rare blend of coastal calm and cosmopolitan vibrancy. It’s where oceanfront walkways, craft breweries, Indigenous art, and world-class research institutions all sit within steps of the meeting venue. The award-winning, LEED Platinum-certified Vancouver Convention Centre combines stunning architecture, a living grass roof, and sweeping views of Burrard Inlet. Just outside the doors, attendees will enjoy a walkable downtown, easy transit, and a rich mix of museums, galleries, and restaurants that reflect the city’s global culture.

Vancouver’s diverse neighbourhoods, each connected by scenic routes, parks, and coastal paths, offer something for everyone. Explore Stanley Park’s forest trails, visit Granville Island’s artisan markets, or take a short Seabus ride to view the mountain vistas in North Vancouver. Attendees can immerse themselves in Indigenous history at the Museum of Anthropology, enjoy fresh Pacific Northwest cuisine, or kayak along False Creek, all without leaving the city core. For more information on planning your time in Vancouver, please visit the Vancouver page on the WCB 2026 website (https://wcb2026.com/vancouver-city/).

Due to the popularity of Vancouver and the attractiveness of the location in July, it is recommended that ASB members attending the World Congress book their accommodation early. There are limited rooms available at the Congress discounted rate and they are expected to sell out. If you need a visa to enter Canada, please register as soon as possible and indicate that a visa letter is required. To avoid disappointment, please apply for your visa early as it can take 3-6 months to process. More information can be found on the website (https://wcb2026.com/visarequirements/).

The program committee meets regularly with representation from the ASB, the Canadian Society for Biomechanics (CSB), and the European Society of Biomechanics (ESB) to shape the program and WCB format. See more updates from Kim Bigelow in our Program Chair’s column. Submissions are currently being reviewed with decisions expected towards the end of February.

We are also excited about the strong response to our sponsorship and exhibitor program. Partnering with WCB 2026 is an excellent opportunity to showcase your organization, connect with the global biomechanics community, and increase visibility on an international scale. A wide range of sponsorship and exhibitor options are available to suit different budgets. Those who commit early will benefit from premium placement opportunities and exclusive sponsorship offerings. Learn more about the sponsorship and exhibit opportunities on the website.
