Hello ASB Community,
We’re excited to share a joint update from the ASB Membership and Communications Committees as we continue to work together to enhance your experience as a member of the American Society of Biomechanics.
This is another record-breaking year for new members. We have had 286 members join by the Early Bird meeting registration deadline this year, beating last year’s previous record of 271 (233 of whom are students)! Please join us in welcoming our new members and remember to take advantage of the Membership Directory to find members for research collaborations, speaking engagements, recruitment opportunities, and more.
One of our shared goals this year is to ensure that every ASB member, whether a student just beginning their biomechanics journey or a long-time contributor to the field, feels informed, engaged, and supported. To that end, we’ve teamed up to improve how we communicate with you and how you interact with ASB resources throughout the year.
You may have already noticed an expanded presence on social media platforms, LinkedIn, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), BlueSky, Facebook, and Threads, making it easier than ever to stay connected and celebrate the work of our community. We’re also working behind the scenes to make our Membership Toolkit more intuitive and user-friendly, simplifying everything from membership renewals to volunteering for committees.
At the same time, we’re revisiting the membership application process to make it more welcoming and transparent, while continuing to uphold the values and professional standards of ASB. Whether you’re applying for the first time or renewing after many years, we want the process to be smooth and informative.
This collaboration between Membership and Communications is about more than logistics, it’s about building a stronger, more connected society. Together, we’re aligning efforts to increase transparency, celebrate member achievements, promote volunteer opportunities, and support your career and professional growth throughout the year, not only at the annual meeting.
As always, if you have ideas about how we can improve your ASB experience, we want to hear them! You can reach us at asbsecretary@asbweb.org and asbcommunications@asbweb.org, or get involved by selecting the Membership or Communications Committee checkboxes when you log in to your member profile.
We’re looking forward to an exciting year of growth, connection, and innovation, with you at the center of it all.
