It has been a wonderful three years serving ASB through the Presidential cycle! This past year has been both challenging and exciting, and I’ve been grateful for the opportunity to be involved. ASB is a growing society, and we’ve experienced many “firsts” over the past three years—including the creation of the Development Committee and receiving the largest financial gift in ASB’s history.

Of course, ASB has also been actively navigating the evolving federal landscape and exploring how we can advocate for the important academic work of our members. Serving ASB has deepened my appreciation for how fulfilling a life in science can be.

During my time on the Executive Board, I have:

  • Witnessed the dedication of the Executive Board and ASB Committee members, including the Development Committee, which I had the privilege of leading this year.
  • Reviewed Borelli Award applications, showcasing the lifelong accomplishments of outstanding biomechanics researchers.
  • Chaired the Nominating Committee and was inspired by the many members willing to step up for future ASB service.
  • Reviewed abstracts spanning innovative basic research to impactful translational studies.
  • Contributed to the development of the next ASB Strategic Plan, envisioning the future of our growing society.

I look forward to officially concluding my term at the upcoming Annual Meeting in Pittsburgh, as well as serving ASB in other roles in the coming years. Safe travels and I’ll see you at the meeting!
