Hello Members of ASB! It was such a blessing to return to an in-person conference at our NACOB gathering in August. I am very honored to be elected to this position and I jumped right into activities on the Executive Board at NACOB. While I have served ASB in a variety of ways since joining the organization in 2007, this is my first time on the ASB Executive Board. I have found the group to be very welcoming and I am inspired by the desire of each member to promote biomechanics as a discipline and be stewards of the society.
The first order of business for me was working with the presidential line to select a conference site for ASB 2024. I’ve also been tasked to work with ASB’s association and conference management company, Podium, to request conference site proposals for ASB 2025. We are gathering site and venue information and awaiting institutional information from potential Meeting Chairs. We had a great discussion on the Executive Board about the importance of varying the regional locations of our annual meetings. We have a great list of potential sites!
My main priority while on the Executive Board is the continued growth of biomechanics. I hope to focus on programs that connect members, create resources for biomechanics curriculum, and promote programs that increase public awareness of our field. If you have ideas related to these priorities, please feel free to reach out to me.
I would like to end by thanking my colleagues on the Executive Board, especially the presidential line, and the outgoing Past President, Nick Stergiou. I am grateful for this opportunity to serve ASB.
