My first year as Education Chair went by quickly! It is an honor to serve ASB and give back to such a supportive community. Thank you to everyone on the Education Committee, especially the reviewers for the Regional Meeting Awards and the Graduate Student Research Grants. These awards were our main focus this year.

Awards were allocated to support 6 regional meetings, 5 of which have already taken place. Thank you to the organizers of the South Central ASB Meeting, ASB East Meeting, Rocky Mountain ASB Meeting, Great Plains Biomechanics Symposium, and the Northwest Biomechanics Symposium. All of your hard work paid off, as these meetings were well attended and provided students and trainees with opportunities to share their research. The Midwest Regional ASB Meeting will be held in Cleveland, Ohio on September 24th and 25th. It will be the last regional meeting for 2026. If you haven’t had an opportunity to attend a regional meeting this year and you aren’t able to attend WCB, you may want to attend this meeting. Now is the time to consider hosting a regional meeting for 2027. Applications will be due September 30, 2026.

Congratulations to the recipients of the 2026 ASB Graduate Student Research Grant: Christina Bourantas (Washington University in Saint Louis), Jinseok Lim (Arcadia University), Michelle Myers (University of Pennsylvania), Emma Slavin (Worcester Polytechnic Institute), and Jason Simpson (University of Southern Mississippi). I look forward to the research advancements each grant recipient will make.

I am beginning to plan for the second year of my term. One initiative that I am excited to share is that the Education Committee will be collaborating with the Community Outreach SubCommittee of the Black Biomechanists Association to develop content for the Repository! I encourage you to share any activities, assignments, and other resources that you have on the Repository. To access the Repository, you will need to log in to Membership Toolkit.

I look forward to seeing you at WCB this July!
