My term in the ASB presidential line (2020-2023) and my second term on the ASB Executive Board (program chair line 2011-2012) concludes at the end of the Annual Meeting in Knoxville. Over the decade between my two terms, the size and activities of the Society and the Executive Board expanded tremendously – signifying a healthy and growing biomechanics community. To review these changes and the rich history of ASB, peruse the many pages on the “new” ASB website that was unveiled in late 2021 along with the new ASB logo that replaced the original logo from the 1980s. ASB is a professional society dedicated to promoting and supporting outstanding cross-disciplinary science and scientists. The Executive Board and Society members made impressive strides addressing the goals defined in the 2020-2025 Strategic Plan even when challenged with a global pandemic that changed how we came together over the past three years. New offerings were developed to promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and mentoring: Up & Comer Award, B-SURE Program, GRADE Initiative, Early Career membership level, Student Chapters, Student Author AMA Series, Corporate Partnership Program, ASB Affinity Groups, etc. Over my three-year term, ASB will have given out nearly $200,000 in awards and grants to our members and others to celebrate biomechanics and our community. Membership and conference registration fees alone do not cover these expenses. To be able to sustain and increase the level of programs and support provided by ASB, I and others from the Executive Board and Council of Fellows have started to explore establishing an ASB fundraising committee. Look for an announcement during the General Business Meeting on the last day of the Annual Meeting in Knoxville, and think about how you can help to spread and honor biomechanics.

As Past President, I also worked with two wonderful groups that helped to identify leaders who would become ASB Fellows or future members on the Executive Board. My grateful thanks to the ASB Fellows Selection Committee and to this year’s Nominating Committee, Jaimie Roper and Emmanuel Tetteh. My congratulations to the newly elected Fellows, Executive Board and 2024 Nominating Committee members.

Thank you to all of the Executive Board members and staff from Podium Conference who I worked with these past three years. Special thanks to the members of the presidential line, Michelle Sabick, Nick Stergiou, Rakié Cham, and Sara Myers, and to Cendrine De Vis from Podium. Finally, thanks to the ASB community for affording me the opportunity to lead this great organization of friends and “family”.
