This is my last newsletter contribution as ASB past president and 2022-2024 Executive Board member. Serving my favorite society has been a privilege and a very rewarding experience. In addition, working with a dedicated group of individuals who deeply care about our society’s future has been a true pleasure. I had a lot of fun. ASB-related board meetings are not just a way to contribute to the society, they are also opportunities to connect with my ASB colleagues and family.

Two main areas kept me busy as ASB’s Past President including the following:

  • I served as Chair of the ASB Development Committee. The mission of this committee is to grow relationships and resources to support the strategic priorities of our society. One primary goal is to develop and evaluate plans for fundraising. Many thanks to the dedicated members of ASB’s Development Committee composed of a diverse group of individuals including Dr. James Ashton-Miller (University of Michigan), Dr. Ajit Chaudhari (The Ohio State University), Mrs. Maria Pasquale (Novel Electronics inc.), Dr. Nikolaos Stergiou (University of Nebraska at Omaha), Dr. Christopher Wilburn (Auburn University), and Ms. Cendrine De Vis (Podium). We met bi-weekly to address key issues and push many fundraising initiatives forward (e.g., T-shirt design competition and campaign, donation webpage, working with the 2025 Annual Meeting Chair to raise funds, developing a culture of giving, ASB’s 50th anniversary campaign, etc.)
  • I also served as the Chair of the Nomination committee, which is assigned the task of seeking nominations for the elections of ASB officers. This year we had six vacant positions. We were successful seeking at least two nominations per position and running the elections. Many thanks to Dr. Wendi Weimar who helped with the process. We had many positions to fill and were successful doing so. Congratulations to all the winners and sincere thanks to everyone who ran for these positions.

See you all in Madison!
