This gathering will take place before the Opening Reception, providing an opportunity for student attendees to meet and connect before heading into the larger ASB Welcome Reception. It’s a great chance to build connections.

Student Night Out

The Puttery, Pittsburgh (tentative)


Join us for a fun evening of mini golf and socializing with fellow students. This is a great way to unwind and network in a fun setting.

Mentor/Mentee Lunch

This is one of our most popular events, connecting students with experienced mentors from academia, industry, and government. A survey will be sent out in July to match students with mentors based on their interests. Many participants form lasting professional relationships beyond the conference.

Student Chapter Leadership Coffee Break (tentative)

We are working with the ASB Student Committee to finalize this event. The annual Student Chapters Meeting will provide a platform for members to share ideas, discuss chapter activities, and offer guidance to those interested in starting a new ASB chapter. The ASB Student Representative and current chapter presidents will lead a Q&A session, followed by breakout discussions for networking and idea exchange.

Professional Development Roundtables

This event offers undergraduate students, graduate students (including those considering graduate school), and postdoctoral fellows the opportunity to engage in discussions with experienced professionals in biomechanics.

Academic career topics include Finance & Business Strategy in Managing a Biomechanics lab, Applied Biomechanics in Healthcare, Navigating the Academic Job Market for Biomechanists, Finding the Right Postdoctoral Fellowship, Career Progression for Postdoctoral Fellows, and Teaching and Higher Education Careers in Biomechanics.

Non-academic career topics include The Impact of Automation and Digital Transformation on Biomechanics Careers, The Importance of Robust Coding, Data Analysis, and Technical Writing in Biomechanics, Biomechanics in Industry, Entrepreneurship in Biomechanics, and Networking and Professional Branding.

This event fosters mentorship and career development, equipping attendees with the knowledge and connections needed to thrive in the field.
