The 2022-2023 year has been a very active one for the Education Committee. We supported five regional meetings, awarded four grad student Grants-In-Aid, reformatted the ASB Teaching Repository, and prepared lots of education-related content for the 2023 ASB Annual Meeting in Knoxville.

ASB Regional Meetings

Four of the five funded regional meetings have already occurred, with resounding success. These meetings are a fantastic opportunity for students to practice their presentation and networking skills, and a low-cost opportunity to get involved with ASB. Still to come in September is the Midwest Regional Meeting of the ASB in Cleveland, OH 9/28/2023 – 9/29/2023. Contact Brian Lewis for more information.

This year we had a record high number of regional meeting applications, and we hope to continue funding at least 5 meetings each year. If you are interested in hosting a meeting, I encourage you to reach out prior to the September 30, 2023 deadline to maximize your chances of success in the application process. We hope to endorse additional meetings that may be more established, but do not require funding to help promote biomechanics meetings with our large ASB community.

Congratulations to ASB Grad Student Grant-In-Aid Winners!

We look forward to seeing the completion of these awards presented at the ASB 2024 Annual Meeting!

ASB Teaching Repository

The new and improved ASB Teaching Repository is LIVE! I’d like to thank JJ Wallace, Sara Arena, Brian Knarr, and Kristyne Wiegand for all of their hard work in putting this together! Please feel free to check it out at your leisure and upload your biomechanics education resources for the ASB community. Coming soon: consider joining our ASB Pedagogy Google Group for more ongoing conversation about all things biomechanics education! The pre-conference workshop, Developing Engaged Teaching Strategies in Biomechanics from 8am-12pm on 8/8/2023 will walk attendees through how to use the Repository and how to get involved in this virtual community of practice. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions or suggestions regarding the repository as we continue to fine tune it over the next few months.
